Maldivian Cream Buns ( Cream jehi banas)

Cream jehi  Banas are a blast from the past for me. I remember coming home from school to find cream buns neatly arranged in a plate on our dining table. The feeling of pure joy at seeing them on the table and massive love towards the person that bought them.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

½ tsp. vanilla essence

15 yellow buns

Food color

Method:

1_ Grind the sugar using a food grinder or processor.

2_ Put the grounded sugar and condensed milk into a bowl. Mix well, add vanilla essence and mix again.

3_ Divide the mixed sugar glaze in to two cups, add preferred amount of food colorings and mix until all glaze is evenly colored.

4_ Slice the buns down the front horizontally, thrice but don’t cut them in half all the way through, fill each cut with generous amount of glaze. Enjoy!
