Serves: 6 to 7 / Prep time: 40 minutes / Cooking time: 20 to 30 minutes



500 gram rice

650 grams pumpkin (chopped)

1400 ml water

21/2 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoon sunflower or vegetable oil


1- In to a sauce pan or rice cooker add all ingredients and cook until all water is absorbed by the rice and pumpkin.

2- In between of cooking give little stirs two to three times. When all water is absorbed by rice give another stir, lower the heat and cover with lid.

3- Cook rice for another ten minutes. After ten minutes take the lid fluff the rice and serve with rihaakuru dhiya, smoked tuna and salad leaf.
